In addition, the Republican nymphaeum of Segni features magnificent mosaic decoration on its walls. These three sites give your visit different focal points, ranging from religious antiquity and public architecture to decorative design.

Churches, art and urban history

The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Segni was built in the 17th century over the ruins of an 11th-century temple. The cathedral also contains works by Giovanni Battista Gaulli. The Church of San Pietro in Segni stands on the ruins of an ancient pagan temple on the Acropolis. In these sacred buildings, you will therefore encounter both later ecclesiastical use and older architectural traces.

The Museo Archeologico Comunale di Segni presents the town’s ancient and medieval heritage. For planning your museum visit, opening hours on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays are from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The museum is therefore suitable as a separate item on your itinerary between visits to the town’s sights.

Forests and a festive occasion

The Campo di Segni in the Monti Lepini includes forests. If you would like to experience the landscape as well as archaeological sites, this natural area is part of Segni’s character. A regular bus service connects Segni with the Colleferro railway junction in ten minutes. This is the Colleferro-Segni-Paliano station on the Rome–Cassino–Naples line.
