Prata Sannita lies on the southwestern foothills of the Matese massif at 333 m above sea level in the Media Valle del Volturno. The town combines a medieval-style historic center with noteworthy churches, museums, and the landscapes of the Valle del Lete. Castello Pandone is also part of the town’s historical landmarks. Access is via the main entrance at Largo Portelle in Prata Sannita. Another attraction is the 15th-century San Francesco Monastery. Its cloister contains original Gothic-style capitals. The monastery also houses the medieval mummies of the Pandone counts in a wall cabinet to the right of the transept. Three frescoes are dated to the period between the late 16th and the mid-17th century. When planning your visit, note that San Francesco Monastery was temporarily closed to the public.

The Museo del Vasaio displays a wide variety of objects. Its collection ranges from everyday household items to elaborately designed artistic and decorative forms. The section of the Museo Storico dedicated to the Second World War brings together mementos from various troops from the war years 1943–1945. The Valle del Lete also reveals another side of Prata Sannita: its landscape. The Grotta del Poeta is a geological formation along the route described. A walk at the foot of the Rava di Prata offers views of small waterfalls and natural pools; a former hydroelectric plant is also located there. The Piscine del Lete offer picturesque views of the river.

The local tradition “Dui lena a Gliu Bambinu!” is associated with lighting a large Christmas bonfire in Piazza San Pancrazio. In the past, residents went from house to house to collect wood for the fire in the square. The tradition therefore combines a festive occasion with an established form of community participation.
