Chamois is a car-free Alpine settlement at an altitude of around 1,800 metres, combining exceptional landscape experiences with a distinctive local character. The village cannot be reached by car or motorcycle: access is via the cable car from Buisson, on foot or by bicycle from the neighbouring municipalities. The cable car from Buisson to Chamois is a public transport service.

Another distinctive feature is Chamois’s high-altitude airfield: it was established in 1967 as Italy’s first high-altitude airfield. Together with the Alpine settlement structure, this creates a destination where nature, architecture and local history stand side by side.
