Location and History
Nagykutas is located in Western Transdanubia in Hungary, in Zala County and the Zalaegerszeg District.
The village lies on the northern edge of Zala County, directly on the border with Vas County.
On a ridge south of the village is a historically significant row of wine cellars. The cellars were built in the 18th and 19th centuries with wooden walls and thatched roofs.
Nagykutas is a settlement dating from the Árpád period; its name is recorded in documents as Kuthus in 1211.
West of the village, an approximately 800-year-old sweet chestnut tree stands on the vineyard hill.
Getting Around and On-Site
The village's main road follows Route 7404, which runs from Zalaegerszeg towards Andrásfa along the southern edge of Vas County.
Nagykutas is described as a place where the largest apple orchard in Zala County is located.
