History and Culture
Csesznek Castle was first mentioned in writing in the 13th century. The Garai family rebuilt the castle in the Gothic style, making it an important medieval fortress. Csesznek Castle continues to offer guided tours to its guests.
The Jewish cemetery “Zsidó temető a múltból” lies in the southeast of Csesznek, at the eastern foot of the castle and next to the Kőmosó-szurdok Gorge. It has not been used for around a century and has a history of more than 100 years.
Nature and Activities
The summit of Tarack-hegy offers a wonderful panorama of Csesznek, Csesznek Castle and the surrounding area. The summit can be reached on foot from the southeastern part of the car park on the outskirts of Csesznek.
In 2013, Via Ferrata Csesznek was built in the Kőmosó-szurdok Gorge below Csesznek Castle as Hungary’s first via ferrata route. It has five routes on the Dachstein limestone rock faces, with difficulty levels ranging from B to F. Equipment rental, instruction and guided programmes are available.
Zörög-tető can be reached from Csesznek via the green-marked trail, which passes through a tunnel under Route 82 at the end of Vasút utca.

At its covered indoor venues, Lovagvölgy offers workshops and activities in the Apród houses, the village houses and the “füvesház”, as well as a VR experience, an escape room and a folk games house.
