Culture

The first documented mention of Lovászpatona dates back to 1253; at that time, the place was referred to as “villa potana”.

St. Martin's Church is described as the most valuable architectural monument in Lovászpatona and has Romanesque origins as well as several construction phases.

The building has a single nave and features an eastern apse that ends in five sides of an octagon, as well as a tower on the west façade.

The oldest surviving detail is a section of the nave dating from the 12th to the 13th century. In the 14th century, the nave was extended in the Early Gothic style.
