History

Szakadát has a long documented history: the settlement was already inhabited in Roman times, became associated with the Szák family after the Hungarian conquest, and was an ecclesiastical settlement in the 12th century.

A document from 1298 mentions the church of Szakadát, thereby providing a documented link to the settlement's medieval religious heritage.

In the first half of the 18th century, Szakadát was resettled, mainly by families relocated from Germany, including families from the regions of Trier, Saar and the Rhine.
