Hiking
Located in the western Gerecse, the Dunaalmási Kőpite-túrakörök educational trail runs for more than 9 km with 32 stations along a former Roman road and through old quarries to the summit of Kőpite-hegy, which offers an impressive panoramic view in all directions. The area around Dunaalmás is well suited to hiking.
Nature
The Dunaalmási-kőfejtők TT nature reserve is home to valuable fossil finds and rare protected plant communities, including a species-rich fern forest.
History and Culture
Between Kőpite-hegy and Les-hegy, the so-called stone transport road built by the Romans has been completely preserved. Roman slaves used it to transport the limestone quarried here. It is considered the longest known and completely preserved Roman road in Hungary.
Dunaalmás was already settled in Roman times; the famous Limes ran through its area, and its remains can still be found there today. The Csokonai–Lilla Emlékszoba preserves collected written and material memorabilia, including a presumed portrait of Lilla. The literary-historical collection has been expanded with local-history and ethnographic objects.
Lilla’s grave is signposted and is considered a pilgrimage destination for literature enthusiasts. The Baroque Catholic church of Dunaalmás and its furnishings are protected monuments. It was built from 1754 to 1757 and is dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk.
By the Water
Kis-sziget, surrounded by the Danube and the Által-ér, is a riverside resting place and a destination for water hikers; it has fire pits, tables, and benches.
Cycling
The development of the international EuroVelo 6 cycle route between Dunaalmás and Süttő covered around 11.7 km; Dunaalmás was one of the municipalities affected.
