Discover Kisbér: Exhibitions and a Miniature Park
Accommodation in Kisbér
Kisbér combines historical exhibitions with a miniature park by the lake, offering a range of starting points for planning your trip. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can first consider which themes you would like to shape your stay: exhibitions and local history, or the miniature park on the shore of Lake Kisbér.
Exhibitions and local history
The Büszkeségpont 1956 – Emlékmúzeum és Kiállítás is free to visit during Kiskastély opening hours. It is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 9 am to 5 pm. Check the opening times again before travelling. The architecture is also part of Kisbér’s museum landscape: the exhibition of the Hegedűs Pál Helytörténeti Múzeum is housed in the former Neoclassical building of the Ménesparancsnokság. Here, an exhibition theme and a historic architectural style offer distinct aspects of a visit.
The Kisbéri Helytörténeti Múzeum opened on 18 April 2025. Check the current opening hours when planning your visit. The date and the stated Kiskastély opening hours refer to different institutions and therefore provide separate points of reference for planning.
Miniatures on the lakeshore
The Mini-Magyarország miniature park is located on the shore of Lake Kisbér. This offers an alternative to the exhibitions: the park provides its own distinct focus among the local attractions. If you are interested in a holiday apartment in Kisbér, you can plan your trip around whether the historical attractions or a visit to the miniature park will feature more prominently in your itinerary.
In the wider Komárom-Esztergom destination
The wider Komárom-Esztergom destination offers further themes. The Gerecsei Tájvédelmi Körzet is a nationally significant, individually designated landscape protection area in Komárom-Esztergom, covering 8,676 hectares. Triassic limestone predominates in the Gerecse; Jurassic limestone is also found there and is particularly rich in fossils. Landscape protection and geology therefore provide a different regional focus from Kisbér’s exhibitions and park.
The Majki Kamalduli Remeteség is a Baroque monument complex with seventeen hermit houses, a church tower and a monastery. An exhibition there covers the general and Hungarian history of the Camaldolese order. The complex is open Tuesday to Sunday: from 1 April to 31 October, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, and from 1 November to 31 March, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Check the schedule before your visit. The architecture and exhibition offer two different ways to experience the site.
At the Bábolna Nemzeti Ménesbirtok, a guided visit begins with an exhibition on the history of the stud farm and continues in the Ménesudvar; check the current booking details when planning your visit. Advance booking is required for carriage rides to the nearby arboretum. Two carriages drawn by Shagya Arabian mares are available. The “Fogat bemutató, ménfelvezetés” programme features four-, five- and two-horse teams; visitors can try out these historic modes of transport themselves. Advance booking is also required for this programme.
