Culture and history
Berettyóújfalu is associated with the Olympic fencing champions Endre Kabos and Imre Bujdosó, as well as the poet Zoltán Nadányi. The town’s two “Olympic oaks” were reportedly planted by Kabos Endre in 1936 and by Bujdosó Imre, respectively.

The former Konrád ironmongery shop was located at 11 Dózsa György út; György Konrád incorporated his experiences with the town into several novels.
Getting there
By road, Berettyóújfalu can be reached by turning from Road 4 onto Road 42 at Püspökladány; the town lies beyond Földes. The town can also be reached via the Püspökladány–Biharkeresztes railway line.
