Wellness

The Tiszaújváros Spa and Beach Bath uses thermal mineral water at a temperature of 65°C, which rises from a depth of 1,200 metres and has a relatively high salt concentration containing sodium chloride and bicarbonate. Covering just under 7 hectares, the bath complex includes five leisure pools, a landscaped sunbathing lawn, sports courts, a playground, and a range of sales and service pavilions.

The swimming pool at the Tiszaújváros Sports Centre has a 25-metre pool with six lanes and a depth of 1.8 metres, and welcomes swimmers on all seven days of the week.

Nature

The floodplain forests of Tiszaújváros, known as “Tiszaújvárosi ártéri erdők”, are designated as a Natura 2000 site. Along the Tisza section, the floodplain forests comprise two areas of old, ash-rich mixed woodland with a total area of 24 hectares. They provide a habitat for two endangered species: the díszes tarkalepke (Euphydryas maturna) and the fire-bellied toad (Bombina bombina).

Water

The lowland landscape between the Sajó and Tisza rivers offers opportunities for fishing and water sports. The annual recurrence of the “tiszavirágzás” phenomenon can be observed in Tiszaújváros.

The Tiszaújváros Reformed Church was consecrated on 16 October 1994. Its architecture was inspired by the belfries and bell towers of the Upper Tisza region. The sanctuary measures 12 × 30 metres and can accommodate 400 people.

The Roman Catholic Church of “Magyarok Nagyasszonya” in Tiszaújváros, completed in 1993, is classified as a protected architectural asset under local regulations. It is a three-nave building with a cruciform floor plan and a 26-metre-high tower. The stained-glass windows in the transept and chancel were designed by the painter Tibor Bráda, who was born in Tiszaújváros.

The Greek Catholic Church of Urunk Színeváltozása in Tiszaújváros has a polygonal foundation and a polygonal dome; its interior walls are completely covered with icon paintings. It was consecrated on 11 August 1996.

The Reformed Church of Tiszaszederkény, in the Tiszaszederkény district of Tiszaújváros, was consecrated on 20 October 1799.
