The village lies in the valley of the Csörgős stream, at the upper end of a dry valley near the Slovakian border.

Landscape and Nature
The Aggteleki-cseppkőbarlang cave, Jeskyně Domica cave and Baradla Caves are located in the area surrounding Trizs.
The Trizsi horgásztó fishing lake is located on the outskirts of Trizs. The lake covers 0.8 hectares, has an average depth of 2 to 3 metres and invites visitors to go fishing.
Culture and History
Hagyományok Háza, an interactive local history museum and community centre, is housed in one of the village’s oldest buildings. Furnished with donated furniture and household items, it presents village life in earlier times and has a traditional oven.
Trizs was first mentioned in writing in 1275. In the Middle Ages, the surrounding area was considered a royal estate, where royal guards settled to protect the forests and waters.

Main road No. 2603 runs through Trizs. The nearest railway stations are in Bánréve, Putnok and Szendrő.
