Culture and History

A fragment of a bronze statue of Marcus Aurelius was found at the castle on Várhegy. The Roman fort of Lugio on Várhegy had an irregular quadrangular layout that followed the course of the hill, with a square tower at each corner. Excavations on Várhegy uncovered part of the fort’s limestone wall as well as the remains of a small rectangular brick building with a terrazzo floor.

The Töröklyuk is a structure carved into the riverbank dating from the Ottoman period; its origins are uncertain, however. The building that now houses Örökségház served as a church until 1810. Today, Örökségház houses a local history exhibition and an event hall.

Routes

The ferry service between Dunaszekcső and Dunafalva has been suspended indefinitely for technical reasons since 19 June 2025. A Dunaszekcső–Baja–Dunaszekcső cycling route begins at Örökségház and includes a ferry crossing to Dunafalva.
