Bathing experiences in every season

The Jonathermál Gyógy- és Élményfürdő is open year-round. The bath complex has a landscaped setting, which is also suitable for sports, as well as indoor and outdoor pools for thermal bathing, slides, waves and other water attractions. The name “three-generation bath” describes its aim of bringing different kinds of bathing together in one place; when planning your trip, you may be especially interested in the choice between a more relaxing bathing experience and more active options.

In summer, four large slides add to the facilities: the “Anakonda” is 120 metres long, the “Hidrocső” 61 metres, the “Kamikaze” 44 metres and the “Rafting” slide 41 metres. The 530-square-metre wave pool is also part of the adventure bath. On hot summer days, there is also an artificial lake with a sandy beach and floating water-park features. These seasonal offerings provide a different experience from the bath’s year-round facilities. If water activities are at the heart of your trip, you may wish to consider Kiskunmajsa when looking for a holiday apartment.

Local culture and history

A distinctive feature of the townscape is a number of still-visible, radiating-gable houses typical of local folk architecture. The Tájház offers another way to explore the past: this three-part farmhouse with a thatched roof was built around 1850. Its furnishings date from the late 19th century, and it also has a traditional oven. The architecture and furnishings offer tangible points of reference for exploring historic building and domestic styles.

The late Baroque Kiskunmajsa Roman Catholic Church, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, stands in the central square. Visitors interested in local collections can find more than 1,200 beer mugs and glasses from 32 countries in Kis Tibor’s private Söröskorsó és Söröspohár Gyűjtemény collection. The Pongrátz Gergely 56-os Emlékmúzeum és Kápolna devotes two rooms to the history and mementos of the Pongrátz family. Two further rooms display events from the 1956 Revolution and War of Independence.

Hungarian traditions are also part of local cultural life: the performing group of the Mayossa Hagyományőrző Egyesület preserves and shares Hungarian folk dance and performs at town events. The Majsa Napok take place in connection with the church’s dedication festival on Kisasszony Day. A permanent exhibition at Hungarikum Sétány introduces visitors to local values and Hungarian Hungarika, which they can discover on a stroll.
