Eláti lies on the slopes of the Koziakas Mountains, whose landscape is characterized by fir trees. Around the village, striking rock formations, trails climbing to higher ground and a small ski resort nearby come together. This makes Eláti an appealing place for anyone who wants to stay in a mountain village and choose between hiking, climbing, skiing and quieter explorations, depending on the outing. Eláti is also described as a place to stop and stock up: the village has restaurants, mini-markets and hotels. Individual businesses and services may change.

Rock Views and Trails in the Koziakas Mountains

Kokkinos Vrachos is a 60-meter-high rock formation at an elevation of 1,050 meters. From its summit, you can see Eláti as well as the Pindos and Agrafa mountain ranges. There are several climbing routes on its steep face; the organized climbing area has seven routes of varying difficulty. If you plan to climb there, check the conditions locally, as they may change.

Two trails also offer different options for an outing. Trail 140 starts in the center of Eláti and leads to Kosta. It is 2.8 kilometers long and rated easy. Trail 150 starts above the village, passes between the rocks of Thyra and offers a short ascent towards the high Koziakas peaks above Eláti. The trails therefore differ in both their starting points and their character: one is a short, easy-rated route to Kosta, while the other combines a passage through the rocks with an ascent. Check current trail conditions before setting out.

Above Eláti, in dense forest, stands the chapel of Agia Triada at an elevation of 1,025 meters. Another notable site is the grove of Prophet Elias, with its stone chapel of the same name at the entrance to the village. Both places add a cultural dimension to an outing without requiring a lengthy overview of the region.

Skiing and Other Activities near Pertouli

Pertouli Ski Resort lies between Eláti and Pertouli; the Pertouli Ski Center is nine kilometers from Eláti. The village can serve as a base for skiers. The resort has three runs and three lifts: a 1,500-meter red run, a 400-meter blue run and an 80-meter green practice slope. The lengths and ratings make the differences between the runs clear, but do not replace checking which facilities are available during your visit.

Alongside skiing and snowboarding, Pertouli Ski Resort offers horse riding, snowmobiling, hiking and archery. If you want to plan your stay around these activities, confirm their current operating status and availability before you arrive. This will help you decide whether to focus your trip on the village and its trails or also set aside time for the nearby resort.

History and Regional Products

Eláti was formerly known as Tyrna. At Paleokastro, the remains of an ancient castle extend from the plateau below the Prophet Elias chapel to the village of Katofli. These two places offer different points of reference for the area’s history: one is a former village name, the other an extensive area with castle remains.

For a taste of regional products, Eláti has the Likno shop, which sells traditional products and herbs from the region. The E4 long-distance trail passes through the Municipality of Pyli, from Kalambaka towards the Koziakas refuge and Eláti; the wider hiking region is therefore also useful for planning if you want to explore beyond the local trails.

When choosing a holiday apartment in Eláti, consider how you want to balance these options: short walks from the village, an ascent between the rocks, climbing routes or a day at the ski resort near Pertouli. Restaurants and mini-markets make it easier to find your way around the village; for specific businesses and services, it is best to check before your visit. This lets you shape your stay around the experiences you actually plan to enjoy.
