On Othoni, quiet coves and different ways to enjoy the water meet striking coastal landmarks and paths. Short swimming trips, mask snorkelling or a hike to Kanoula each offer a different experience. If you’re looking for a holiday apartment, first consider which of these types of trip you want to shape your stay.

Coves for different plans

Xylosermoi on Othoni is a quiet cove with clear water. The small, picturesque Fiki Beach is ideal for short swimming trips and exploring the surrounding area. At Aspri Ammos Beach, you can swim and snorkel with a mask. Fiki is a good choice for a short swimming trip followed by some exploring; at Aspri Ammos, the focus is on swimming with a mask. Swimming conditions may vary.

Lighthouse and wild cove

The Othoni Lighthouse stands on Cape Kastri at the eastern end of the island, atop a ten-metre-high stone tower. Below the lighthouse is Kanoula Beach, a wild cove with rocks, pebbles and natural clay.

Exploring on foot

The Fokies coastal path runs along Othoni.

A hiking trail connects Kastri with Kanoula Beach. You can start from Ammos or Kastri.

Near the old quarry, a moderately difficult coastal path runs for about one kilometre. Along the way, it passes Kamares, a natural rock arch shaped by the surf, and spots with access to the water for swimming. At about one kilometre, the path is short, but it is moderately difficult; its length and difficulty offer different points to consider when planning. The spots with access to the water for swimming make it possible to combine a hike and swimming time in your day’s plans.

Getting there by boat

Othoni can only be reached by boat from Corfu. The journey takes approximately four hours from Corfu Town or about an hour and a half from Agios Stefanos; both journey times are weather-dependent. These different estimates also make your starting point a factor in your plans. Check the timetable before travelling so you can factor the crossing into your other plans.

Corfu: a distinctive cultural destination

Corfu offers its own urban and cultural highlights. The historic urban fabric of Corfu Old Town is almost entirely preserved; its buildings date from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. The Old Town and its two fortresses are UNESCO World Heritage sites. The Museum of Asian Art in the Old Town houses more than 11,000 objects from China, Japan, India, the Himalayas and Central Asia.

The Archaeological Museum of Corfu displays the Gorgon Medusa pediment from the great Temple of Artemis. The pediment was created in 585 BC and excavated in 1911 near the Aghioi Theodoroi Monastery. From Corfu Port, the Museum of Asian Art can be reached on bus route 2, along the Mantouki–Kanoni route; check the timetable before travelling. Corfu therefore offers a focus on the Old Town, fortresses and collections—a distinct cultural perspective alongside Othoni’s coves and paths.
