Kalami combines days spent by the bay with guided walks and a special history surrounding The White House. To plan your trip, you can first consider what appeals to you most: experiences on the water, walking routes or a visit with a historical connection.

Kalami Bay: between the bay and history

Kalami Bay has earned a reputation as one of the most attractive holiday destinations in Corfu. The White House has stood in Kalami Bay on Corfu’s northeast coast for well over 100 years. The house gives the area a tangible historical point of interest alongside activities on the water and guided walks.

On selected dates, visitors can tour The White House and see Durrell memorabilia as well as the rooms Lawrence Durrell lived in. If you would like to plan a visit, check with the operator to see which dates are currently available.

On the water or along old paths

Boat trips in Kalami Bay offer various options: visitors can stop at one of the many tavernas by the sea, gift shops or markets, and swim or snorkel along the way. Not every trip will include all of these options; ask the operator about the stops on the specific excursion. This will help you assess whether a planned trip matches your preferred mix of time on land and in the water.

The White House Experience offers four guided walks along old paths. They all start and finish at The White House in Kalami Bay. Check with the operator whether the experience is available on your planned date. Unlike the possible stops on a boat trip, the focus here is on a guided walk with a shared starting and finishing point.

Include your preferred location when comparing the accommodation options actually available.

Corfu as a broader cultural and natural landscape

Corfu Town’s Old Town offers a distinct cultural focus. Its historic urban fabric is almost completely preserved, and its buildings date from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. The Old Town and its two fortresses are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is a different focus from boat trips and walks in Kalami Bay if historic urban landscapes also interest you during your trip.

The Museum of Asian Art is also located in the Old Town. Its collection comprises more than 11,000 objects from China, Japan, India, the Himalayas and Central Asia. The museum can be reached from Corfu Port by bus route 2 on the Mantouki–Kanoni route; check the current timetable before travelling.

Corfu’s landscape also offers its own walking experiences: in the municipal unit of Achilleion, ancient paths wind through the wooded mountains of Agii Deka, Stavros and Garouna and are suitable for walking. Alongside the bay and museum visit, these paths offer another focus for a trip to Corfu—this time outdoors and on foot.
