Culture
At Preston Park Museum, four themed galleries tell the story of social and industrial history; costumes, weapons and armour, as well as paintings and decorative art, are also displayed. Preston Park Museum and Grounds includes a recreated Victorian street. The ParkMade programme complements the museum with workshops on historic crafts, held throughout the year. Walks through woodland and riverside landscapes are also part of Preston Park Museum and Grounds.
The Stockton Flyer provides a distinctive connection to the town's history. The automated mechanical sculpture was commissioned by Stockton Borough Council in 2013 to commemorate the town's railway and industrial history. It appears every day at 1 pm behind Stockton Town Hall.
At ARC, the music programme ranges from rock, pop, soul, jazz and folk to indie. The venue also shows mainstream, arthouse, independent and world cinema, as well as screenings of ballet and opera productions. The Stockton Globe is a Grade II listed Art Deco theatre in Stockton-on-Tees and also ATG Entertainment's flagship music and comedy venue in the UK.

Nature
A river and wetland restoration project completed in 2024–25 was implemented at Billingham Beck Valley Country Park. It improved biodiversity and water quality and reconnected the beck with its natural floodplain. As part of this work, a historic weir was removed. This reopened approximately 55 kilometres of upstream habitat for fish migration.
The restoration work at Billingham Beck Valley Country Park also included new and renewed footpaths, improved drainage, and new steps, benches and gates. Cowpen Bewley Woodland Country Park has woodlands, ponds, a lake, a meadow and hills. A stream runs along its boundary and provides a suitable environment for waterfowl, dragonflies, hares and foxes.
Paths
Wynyard Woodland Park stretches for more than three miles from the edge of Thorpe Thewles to Tilery Wood near Wynyard. There are more than ten miles of paths to explore. The main cycle route through the park forms part of National Cycle Network Route 1. Wynyard Woodland Park is also home to the Wynyard Planetarium & Observatory.
