Geographical Location

Elxleben lies on the Wipfra, about 10 kilometres northeast of Arnstadt and around 10 kilometres north of Erfurt, the capital of Thuringia.

Elxleben was first mentioned in 775 under the name Elgeslebo.

Today's Baroque church in Elxleben was built between 1722 and 1725.

Two historic trade routes ran through Elxleben: one from Erfurt to Stadtilm, and another from Arnstadt to Weimar.
