History
Oststeinbek was first documented in a charter dated 29 April 1255. Six burial mounds were discovered in the area of Oststeinbek and Havighorst, but only one is still visible. This burial mound was placed under monument protection on 15 July 1988 and is the only visible sign of early settlement activity in Oststeinbek and Havighorst.
Culture
The Church of the Resurrection was inaugurated in 1966 and designed by the architect Olaf Andreas Gulbrandson. It is a spiritual space for reflection, renewal and meditation. The local children’s theatre presents a Christmas play in standard German.
