Puls is located within the Hohenwestedter Geest natural landscape. A hilly, agriculturally characterised landscape extends around the village and is enriched by numerous hedgerows. Puls developed from a typical farming village into a mixed settlement consisting of agricultural businesses and residential use, with a concentrated village structure.
Nature
The hedgerow landscape in Puls has been almost completely preserved and was spared from land consolidation measures. After gravel extraction ended, the former gravel pit near Puls also developed into a natural area with large ponds and woodland.
History and Culture
The Pulser Damm is a visible remaining section of the former railway in Puls. The former railway embankment from Puls towards Oldenborstel has also been well preserved in parts. The Puls open fields once contained megalithic stone settings. Ring riding developed into a village festival in Puls.
Activities
Holstein offers 250 kilometres of canoe routes on the Stör and its tributaries. Five long-distance cycle routes run through Holstein: the Elbe Cycle Route, the North Sea Coast Cycle Route, the Ox Trail, the Monk's Trail and the Kiel Canal Route. There are also many signposted hiking, cycling and horseback riding trails in Holstein.
