Hodorf: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Hodorf is connected to the Brückentour cycling route, which runs parallel to the Stör River. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Hodorf can then continue searching for accommodation.
Cycling
The Störtörn 1 route leads through Hodorf northwards along quiet marshland paths. It connects the Stör river landscape with dike paths and open marshland. The route can be started in Wewelsfleth, Wilster or Heiligenstedten. It is marked by a blue river on a green background; arrows indicate the course of the river.
In the vicinity of the Störtörn 1 route, there is a free excursion and dike car park at the Stör barrage, intended primarily for visitors, cyclists and walkers.
Nature
Hodorf is located in the Stör river landscape of the Krempermarsch. Areas within the large loop of the Stör are increasingly being dedicated to landscape and nature conservation; they provide rare plants and animals with room to develop.
On Site
Fährhaus Hodorf offers swimming in a bathing pond and fishing at the Stör dike. It also has tent camping, rental caravans, guest rooms and pitches for caravans or motorhomes. Campfire evenings are also part of the offer.
Beidenfleth Großkampen (Nord) is listed as the public transport stop for Fährhaus Hodorf.
History
Hodorf still has two ferry houses. The Holler ferry at Deicherde operated until around 1955. A second ferry in Hodorf was operated by Nikolaus von Holdt until 1935. The ferrymen in Hodorf made their living from ferry fares, fishing and small-scale farming.
The origin of the Heiligenstedten bascule bridge near Hodorf lay in the aim of making it easier for the residents of Hodorf to attend services at St. Mary's Church.
