Dägeling: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Dägeling is located on the geest island south of Itzehoe. On the edge of the village lies Dägelinger Heide, a local recreation area where visitors can cycle and go for walks.

History

Dägeling was first documented in 1427 under the name Dodelinghe. From 1526, the village belonged to Breitenburg Estate. Around 1630, maps depicted Dägeling as an estate on the old Ochsenweg. Wellenberg Road also has a historical connection to the transport network: until 1960, it was part of Federal Highway 5.

Landscape

Binnendünen Nordoe has been both an EU FFH site and a national nature reserve since the beginning of 2013. The area comprises open pioneer vegetation on sand, inland dunes covered with pine trees, grassland, heath-covered dunes, moist dwarf-shrub heaths and oak forests. Binnendünen Nordoe is also part of the National Natural Heritage.

Nature

Nordoer Heide was reopened as a local recreation area in 2009. Paved paths in Nordoer Heide can also be used for walking and hiking in wet weather. An existing network of paths provides access to Binnendünen Nordoe for nature experiences and local recreation.

Village

Dägeling is home to a campsite operated by NBI and a small library.

Geographical Location

The Itzehoe-Süd junction of the A23 is located near Dägeling. When entering Dägeling, the elevation known as Wellenberg can be seen. Five long-distance cycle routes run through the Steinburg district: the Elbe Cycle Route, the North Sea Coast Cycle Route, the Ochsenweg, the Mönchsweg and the Kiel Canal Route. In the Itzehoe area, there are signposted cycling and hiking trails through varied natural landscapes.
