Altenmoor: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Altenmoor 10 is a single-storey, thatched-roof traditional timber-framed hall house dating from the late 19th century. The building historically shaped the local townscape and cultural landscape. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Altenmoor can then continue searching for accommodation.
Landscape
Altenmoor lies within the Königsmoor Landscape Conservation Area. Its documented character includes extensive grassland, drainage ditches and wetlands, peat cuttings, as well as trees around farms and roads.
The locality consists of two settlement areas: Bullendorf is a linear settlement along the L118, while Altenmoor consists of isolated farmsteads connected by narrow roads. The Kiebitztörn is named after the endangered lapwing that lives in the marsh along the route. Roe deer and hares can be observed in Altenmoor; the call of the Eurasian curlew can be heard between the meadows and pastures.
Culture
The traditional timber-framed hall house at Altenmoor 10 contains an interior timber-frame structure dating from the 18th century, a former passageway threshing floor and a summer-house extension. The residential and agricultural building at Altenmoor 13 also contributes to the local townscape and cultural landscape. Some agricultural buildings retain well-preserved brick façades and/or historic timber structures and are considered particularly worthy of preservation.
Britta’s pottery studio is a small ceramics workshop in Altenmoor, where each ceramic object is created through detailed manual work. Visitors can gain direct insight into the work in the studio.
