Schackendorf: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
Water and trails
The Schackendorf canoe launch site provides access to the Trave and is freely accessible at all times. The launch is located at a pedestrian bridge on the path from Schackendorf sports field to the Ihlwald forest. Visitors using the canoe launch can park at Schackendorf sports field.
Landpartie 3 is a cycling loop approximately 28 kilometres long that runs through Schackendorf between Negernbötel and Bad Segeberg. At Schackendorf village green, cyclists turn towards the sports field, cross the Trave and continue to Lake Ihlsee in Bad Segeberg. From there, the route leads into the Ihlwald forest before returning to its starting point.
Nature
Kiebitzholmer Moor and Trentmoor form a 535-hectare FFH area, located approximately 10 kilometres northwest of Bad Segeberg. Kiebitzholmer Moor is a regenerable raised bog in the Holstein Geest. Both moors provide habitats for moor frogs and natterjack toads.
Village life
The Dampf-Bahn-Club Holstein in Schackendorf is open to visitors from May to October on the first Sunday of each month from 1 to 5 p.m.; public train operations take place during this time. Schackendorf's central village green has mature trees and a modern playground and is used by residents and visitors.
Culture
At the foot of Bad Segeberg's Kalkberg hill lies Noctalis, an experience centre focusing on bats. The Indian Village in Bad Segeberg, with its Nebraska House, presents a cultural and historical exhibition about Indigenous North Americans and white pioneers.
