Hasenmoor: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Hasenmoor is a municipality whose landscape consists predominantly of moorland, heathland, and forest. The B 206 passes through the town between Itzehoe and Bad Segeberg. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Hasenmoor can then continue their accommodation search.

Nature

Königsmoor was granted FFH status in 2007. The Hasenmoor FFH area covers 275 hectares. In the center of the area, peat dams have impounded extensive bodies of water. Characteristic peat mosses, marsh rosemary, and cranberry can be found in the northeastern moorland heaths. Grazing with Heidschnucke sheep was introduced in Königsmoor to suppress purple moor-grass.

Hasenmoor provides a refuge for rare and endangered species, including smooth snakes and adders. Rare plants recorded in Hasenmoor include bladderwort, pennywort, and, in the southwestern swamp forests, crested fern. An observation tower and several wildlife-viewing huts have been built in Hasenmoor for nature observation.

History

The oldest surviving building in Hasenmoor is the thatched cottage at Tannenhof, built in 1756. From 1774 to 1777, a postal connection from Lübeck to Itzehoe ran via Fuhlenrüe; there was a postal stop at Fölster Farm.

The historic junction at Fölster Farm had eight routes leading in almost all directions. Seven of these historic routes still exist as roads or paths.

Orientation

The Hasenmoor wetland has only a few public access routes. Visitors to Königsmoor are asked to stay on the paths and follow the posted rules.
