Nature

Halloher Moor is a 49.25-hectare protected remnant of former moorland and heathland and part of the Osterautal Fauna-Flora-Habitat area. The Halloher Moor hiking area combines moorland, forest, and the Osterau lowlands with a diverse flora and fauna.

At Ketelvierth, a 12-metre-high observation tower offers sweeping views over the Holstein Auenland.

Trails

The Ketelvierth nature trail comprises four circular hiking routes in Großenaspe. The Ketelvierth interpretation trail leads through natural forest, orchards, dry grassland, and areas of gravel extraction. The routes range from 2.5 to 6 kilometres and are organised as the Forest Trail, Orchard Trail, and Gravel Pit Trail.

Culture

The 1772 Katharinen Church is one of only three octagonal churches with an attached tower in Schleswig-Holstein. It is a station on the Mönchsweg, centrally located in the village and accessible from the main approach roads.

The KinG cultural initiative opens its annual programme with six organ concerts on the historic Marcussen organ in Katharinen Church. The organ cycle is followed by four further concerts featuring changing ensembles. Admission to KinG concerts is generally free.

Wildlife
