Ulsnis: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Ulsnis is situated directly on Gunnebyer Noor and the Schlei in a wooded landscape.
Nature
Ulsnis is part of a Natura 2000 site. The salt marshes at the end of the Ulsnisstrand path on the Schlei are described as a rare salt-marsh habitat for characteristic flora and fauna. Ulsnis and the surrounding region can be explored by bicycle or on foot.
Culture and History
The Kius-Ulsnis-Steinfeld Village Museum presents local village and social history through objects from households, farms and craft businesses. Among the exhibits are items from the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as a camera purchased in 1898.
Parts of St Wilhadi Church are probably the oldest surviving church fabric in Angeln; its portal is dated to around 1150. The church also features an early Gothic corpus of Christ dated to 1230/40, which returned to the church in 2012 after more than 100 years at the Flensburg Museum.
Water
Ulsnisstrand is a bathing area directly on the Schlei. Hagab Beach has parking spaces and toilets. The Hagab bathing area is described as suitable for families with small children because of its shallow water. A section several hundred metres north of Hagab is suitable for dog owners.
The Schlei Ulsnis-Steinfeld Boating Club offers moorings for kayaks, rowing boats and dinghies in Ulsnis-Stauertwedt. Ulsnisstrand also has a slipway and visitor berths for larger boats.
Boats on the Schlei stop at Ulsnisstrand. The Giant of Ulsnis, a locally installed sculpture in the form of a giant, is also located there.
