Geltorf: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Geltorf is located in the Hüttener Berge and Duvenstedter Berge natural area, on the edge of the Schleswig Vorgeest between the southern terminal moraines of the Schlei basin and the western terminal moraines of the Hüttener Berge.

Geographical Location

A watershed runs through the municipal area of Geltorf. The Geltorfer Au flows into the Selker Mühlenau and then through Selker Noor and Haddebyer Noor to the Schlei and the Baltic Sea. The watercourses south of the watershed flow through the Boklunder Au, Mühlenbach, Neue Sorge and the Eider to the North Sea. The stream flowing through the western part of Geltorf is a habitat for the rare kingfisher.

The road connection to Geltorf is described via the Schleswig/Jagel exit of the A7: Continue on the B77 towards Schleswig and then via Selk towards Fleckeby/Eckernförde. County Road 1 connects Geltorf with Selk.

History

Two gold bracteates found in Geltorf were grave goods in urn burials at cemeteries dating from the first centuries of the Common Era. The gold ornaments found in 1876 point to early settlement in the Geltorf landscape.

The building listed as a residential and agricultural building at Dorfstraße 19 dates from around 1860.

Things to Do

The E1 continues from Selk via Altmühl and passes the outskirts of Geltorf. The route crosses the narrow connection between Haddebyer Noor and Selker Noor on a wooden bridge.
