Bünsdorf: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Bünsdorf is located in the eastern part of the Hüttener Berge Nature Park, whose landscape is described as a glacially formed terminal moraine area with characteristic hedgerows and field paths. There are nature walks around Wühren, Mückenbarg and the Schirnau; the nature park has hiking trails ranging from 3 to 17 km and cycling routes from 14 to 40 km.

History and Culture

The first documented mention of St. Catherine's Church dates from around 1300. In 1659, it burned down almost to its foundations; parts of its walls survived. During the reconstruction after the fire of 1659, the bell tower was integrated into the church. The farmhouse at Dörpstraat 27 is listed as a simple cultural monument of the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district. A Dutch smock mill was built in Bünsdorf in 1870.

An official historical walking tour leads through the village's history, nature and rural character. The Bünsdorf dairy separated cream into butter and buttermilk; it did not produce cheese.

Water

The Schirnau has drained Lake Wittensee and its surroundings for more than 10,000 years. Kingfishers and white-throated dippers can still be observed along the Schirnau. Sailing boats, motorboats and rowing boats can be accommodated at Wühren Marina.

The lakeside playground is located directly next to Bünsdorf's bathing area and the public barbecue area. Public toilets are located next to the playground and are open during the summer months.
