Stolpe: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Since June 22, 2019, the Urzeithof Museum and its farm café have been located in Stolpe. The collection includes fossils, minerals, and extant animals; natural history topics are presented to a broad audience. The farm café serves homemade cakes and gateaux, while regional products shape the seasonal offering.

Culture and History

Stolpe is described as a Slavic settlement founded around 800 AD on the Limes Saxoniae. URZEITHOF Stolpe is listed as a tourist destination in the Plön district.

Nature

Holstein Switzerland is characterized by gentle hills, lakes, beech forests, villages, and manor estates. The Stolpe Moor is a fen along the Schierenseer Au, which flows into Lake Stolpe in the south. The municipality has acquired parcels of land there for nature conservation purposes. Galloway cattle graze on the wet meadows to preserve their wet-meadow character. On the lakeshore, the alder swamp in the Stolpe Moor transitions into a broad reed zone.

Getting Around

The circular trail around Lake Stolpe is approximately 8 km long and takes around 2.5 hours. It begins at the school in Stolpe and leads via the Gärtnersteg footbridge to a path above the lake. This path offers views across the lake. The route also reaches the old cobblestone road to Perdoel Manor, crosses the Alte Schwentine, and continues to its mouth at Lake Stolpe. A bathing area is listed at Lake Stolpe.

The Vicelin Trail runs as a circular route through Stolpe and, at the Gärtnersteg, follows the shore of Lake Stolpe parallel to the lake through a hedgerow landscape. The Limes Saxoniae cycle route passes through Stolpe; a detour leads to the bathing area at Lake Stolpe.

Getting There

Stolpe can be reached by VKP bus 410 from Kiel and Bad Segeberg. By car, it can be reached via the A 21 from the direction of Hamburg or Kiel.
