Nature

It was intended to serve as a cemetery chapel as well as a space for church services and meetings, and it continues to provide space for community and quiet reflection. It was financed through the chapel construction program of the former Evangelical Lutheran Church of Schleswig-Holstein. The chapel is located at Kirchweg 17, 24250 Nettelsee.

Gut Nettelau was founded in 1795 as a tenant farm of Depenau Estate. The former Depenau narrow-gauge railway station is virtually unchanged on the outside and stands on the old railway embankment.

Paths and Connections

The described hike along the Nettelau to Holzsee is approximately 6 km long and takes about 2 hours. One section of the route near Holzsee is closed to motor vehicles but open to pedestrians and cyclists.

The Holstein Switzerland tourism region offers 27 signposted circular hiking trails and many unmarked hiking trails through hills, forests, meadows, and lake shores lined with reeds. There, public transport makes it easier to reach the starting and end points of circular hikes.

Bus route 363 runs between Plön, Ascheberg, Kalübbe, Depenau, and Nettelsee. Bus route 425 connects Warnau, Nettelsee, Löptin, and Preetz.
