Löptin lies within the Bornhöveder Seenplatte and Alte Schwentine (Kührener Au) Landscape Protection Area, extending to the Kührener Bridge and its surroundings. The village is also included in the Postsee-Neuwührener Au-Klosterforst Preetz and Surroundings Landscape Protection Area. This area is considered important for species and biotope conservation as well as landscape-based recreation. The protected landscape also includes the Alte Schwentine, known as the Kührener Au, which extends to the Kührener Bridge.

Cycling

The Vicelin Cycle Route passes through Löptin on its way to Wankendorf, Ruhwinkel and Bornhöved. The route is approximately 100 kilometers long and can be divided into four stages or two day tours. It connects the Ochsenweg, the Holstein Switzerland Cycle Tour and the Monks' Way.

History and Village Culture

The place name Löptin was first recorded in 1224 and is of Slavic origin. Löptin's municipal emblem is based on the seal of Junker Johannes Lubbetin from 1346. Löptin is described as the only municipality in Schleswig-Holstein with a coat of arms.

Sirtaki is regularly performed at the Maypole and village festivals in Löptin. Greek folk dancing is a local tradition in Löptin.
