Lake Großer Plön: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Lake Großer Plön is located in the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park. It is Schleswig-Holstein’s largest, deepest and most island-rich lake, covers approximately 30 km² and reaches depths of up to 58 metres; numerous islands are scattered across the lake. Nature

The lake is an important breeding ground for waterbirds and lies on a significant migration route for birds from the north. Greylag geese, coots, great crested grebes and white-tailed eagles have been recorded in the area; during the spring moult, large groups of ducks and diving birds gather there.

When using the lake, visitors must avoid marked nature conservation areas and the islands, keep a distance of 50–70 m from protected areas and not paddle through shallow water areas where birds breed and rest.

Plön, Bosau and Dersau are located around the lake and are described as picturesque places connected with culture, history and nature.

The Herb Museum is located in the area surrounding Lake Großer Plön. Bischofswarder, Ziegen Warder, Zappen Warder and Tempel are located near the lake. Riemannstein is also located in the surrounding area. The Landgestüt and Neumünster Kreuzkirche are located in the wider regional surroundings.
