Brodersdorf’s connection to the Probstei is already evident at the entrance to the village. At the entrance roundabout stands the Probsteier Koppeltor, a historical model reconstruction commemorating Brodersdorf’s traditional designation as the “Gateway to the Probstei”. Nature and Discovery
The Brodersdorf Tree Adventure Trail is home to 60 different tree species. Information boards explain the species and provide information about topics including the structure of flowers and the uses of wood and seeds. Brodersdorf’s orchard contains several old varieties of fruit, as well as a pollinator-friendly wildflower meadow.
Beehives stand along the orchard and the circular trail. On sunny days, visitors can observe the bees’ activity there. Additional boards along the Tree Adventure Trail provide information about beekeeping and insect pollination in agriculture. Honey can be purchased in Brodersdorf as a souvenir to take home.
A circular hike of around four kilometres leads through the fields of Brodersdorf and into the “Gruppen” woodland near the Hagener Au.
Getting Around
Bus services connect Brodersdorf with Kiel and Laboe. Bicycles from the Sprottenflotte bike-sharing scheme can be rented in the village centre.
A parking and rest area with an e-bike charging station is located along the cycle route from Laboe to Schönberg/Heikendorf. The facility includes bicycle stands, benches and a picnic table. There are free parking spaces next to the rest area; from there, cycle tours through the Probstei can be started and ended in Brodersdorf. From Brodersdorf, the beach and other municipalities in the Probstei can be reached by bicycle.
Family and Village Life
The Brodersdorf playground includes a low ropes course, a climbing frame, a slide and a picnic area for family leisure time. Events such as morning socials with live music take place at the village pond.
