The campsite on the north-western shore of Lake Belau has its own access to the water and offers boat hire. The campsite at Lake Belau is also open to horse riders.
Paths and Routes
Belau has an extensive network of hiking trails. The Vierer Weg is a hiking route between Belau and Ruhwinkel. A hike called Belauer See–Schierensee is listed.
The surrounding area can also be explored by bicycle via various routes: Belau is included on the 39 km-long Land cycling tour. The Holstein Switzerland long-distance cycle route runs along the planning area in Belau.
Culture and History
Belau Castle and the Perdoeler gatehouse, together with its associated stable and barn buildings, are listed as cultural monuments. The Kattholz oak is described as a pedunculate oak approximately 450 years old.

A café-bistro in the former cowshed serves homemade cakes, gateaux and coffee specialities. The selection is complemented by a small menu featuring seasonal dishes.
