Uetersen: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Uetersen stands out for its rosarium: it is northern Germany’s largest rose garden and a center of German rose cultivation. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Uetersen can then continue searching for accommodation.

Parks and Gardens

Around 30,000 roses bloom at the Uetersen Rosarium in June. The rosarium also offers a park walk with seating areas and play facilities. The historic buildings of Adeliges Kloster are situated in a park- and garden-like setting that is suitable for a walk at any time of year.

Culture and History

The House of the Prioress is Uetersen’s oldest house. It was built in 1664 and is a listed monument. The late Baroque monastery church was built in 1748/1749 and features a ceiling fresco by Giovanni Battista Innocenzo Colombo. In the church at the monastery, an altar relief depicting the Last Supper from the 17th century has been preserved.

The Uetersen Museum of Urban and Local History is housed in a 150-year-old former workshop building belonging to the municipal utilities. The Uetersen Local History Museum presents local history through shipping, whaling, crafts and rose cultivation.

Langes Tannen covers 26 hectares of woodland, meadows, fields, parkland and ponds; the grounds are intended as a public recreational area. The Langes Tannen Museum comprises three listed buildings: a Neoclassical manor house from the early 19th century, a barn dating from 1762 that was rebuilt after arson, and the stump of a windmill dating from 1796. The manor house presents reconstructed bourgeois domestic culture in northern Germany, with a focus on the 19th and 20th centuries. The rebuilt museum barn contains an exhibition space for art and culture.

The “Geology and Gardens” tour begins at Uetersen Town Hall and combines nature, history and garden art, including the rosarium and the park of Langes Tannen.

The Oberglinde natural outdoor swimming pool offers swimming in natural surroundings with regularly monitored water quality. Access to the sunbathing lawn and beach is barrier-free.
