Kummerfeld combines local history, sports facilities, and routes into the surrounding countryside. The village was first mentioned around 1320 in the Latin land register of the Hamburg Cathedral Chapter, known as the “Kleine Kopialbuch” (Small Cartulary). Kummerfeld was formerly called Cummervelde or Kummeruelde; these names are interpreted as meaning “poor land.”
History and Culture
Traces of former building sites were found in the Kummerfelder Wohld. Place names such as Öhlmöhlenwisch and Kopperede also point to a former watermill on the Bilsbek. The first Kummerfeld Culture Festival took place in Kummerfeld in 2018.
Sports and Leisure
The Kummerfelder SV has a sports center on Ossenpadd. It includes two football pitches. The Kummerfelder SV tennis facility has five outdoor red clay courts and a spectators’ terrace. Kummerfeld’s municipal sports and leisure facility also includes tennis courts. The Kummerfelder SV facility also has a beach volleyball court and a basketball hoop.
The facility also includes green spaces, small lakes, streams, and a children’s playground.
Nature and Routes
In the Pinneberg district, hiking and cycling routes lead to natural sites, monuments, and selected cultural institutions. The Natura Trail has a direct connection to Himmelmoor.
