Bohmstedt: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The 43-kilometre Söbenbargen Route starts at the village square, Bi de Kass, in Bohmstedt. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Bohmstedt can continue their search for accommodation afterwards. The route can be combined with a canoe trip on the Arlau: the river is navigable all year round from the Bohmstedt marshland to the Arlau lock, and there are six canoe launch sites between the two points. After Ahrenshöft and Bohmstedt, the Söbenbargen Route leads through the Arlau floodplains, where the formation of the marshland can be traced. Some former gravel pits near Ahrenshöft are now water-filled habitats for animals and plants.
Nature
At the eastern edge of Bohmstedt lies Haaks Forest, which covers approximately 96 hectares and is considered a local recreation area. Haaks cooperative forest was established in 1896.
Culture
Bohmstedt hosted the Frisian Day, a local heritage festival organised by the North Frisian Association, on 18 and 19 September 1976. The Bohmstedt Guidelines were announced in 1926 at a general meeting of the North Frisian Association in Bohmstedt and attracted attention beyond North Frisia.
Things to Do
The walking and cycling routes described include a path that runs along the Ostenau past the Badekuhle bathing pond. One route leads through the Maaser marshland to Haaks farm forest and back across the geest ridge. There is also a path that passes Drelsdorf Forest and Haaks farm forest.
Through Söbenbargen, the route runs alongside burial mounds. It then passes the Waldheim inn before returning to Bohmstedt.
