Ziethen: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Ziethen is described as a rural village set in an appealing landscape that attracts visitors. The village is also described as being close to many lakes and the Baltic Sea, offering opportunities for relaxation and leisure. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Ziethen can then continue searching for accommodation.
Culture
The townscape of Ziethen is defined by St. Laurentius Church, a churchyard wall dating from around 1600, the lower village pond and the surrounding farmsteads; together, they form the character of an old Angerdorf, a village built around a central green. A chapel dedicated to St. Laurentius once stood on the site of today's church.
Ziethen's three present-day localities are the main village around the church dating from 1595, Wietingsbek and Sande.
History
The first documented mention of the name Ziethen dates from 1158. In 1599, Ziethen became an independent parish.
The municipal coat of arms refers to the former Ziethen Lake, which was drained at the end of the 19th century.
Landscape
Game, fine fish, asparagus and fruit are described as regional specialities of the Lauenburg area.
The official route “From the Garrenseerinne to the Salemer Moor” is a 12.3-kilometre, moderately difficult circular hike. It starts and ends at a car park between Ziethen and Mustin. The route passes through moorland, mixed forests and several lakes shaped by the last Ice Age. It runs along the eastern shore of Lake Garrensee and passes Plötschersee, Schwarze Kuhle and the Salemer Moor.
Hiking
Another hike starting from a meeting point near Ziethen leads through woodland and open countryside with views of Lake Lankower See. It crosses the border into Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and follows the former border patrol road along the northern shore of the lake.
Nature
Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park has well-signposted hiking and cycling trails that lead through forests, meadows and moors, as well as along waterways, the Elbe-Lübeck Canal and lakes.

The route can be reached by the infrequently operated bus route 131 to Ziethen or Sande; on weekdays, bus route 8790 also runs to Salem or Seekamp.
