St. Mary's Church is also part of the history of the village. It is a Neo-Gothic fieldstone church built from 1857 to 1859 after the older church, first mentioned in Basthorst in 1319, was demolished in 1856. Its west tower is 43 metres high; its historic furnishings include, among other things, a brass lectern dating from 1651.
