Lankau: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Lankau is characterized by gentle hills, lakes, extensive forests and traditional hedgerow landscapes. The two main lakes are connected by a narrow watercourse. Nature

The approximately 600-year-old Stork Oak stands in the forests around Lankau. It has been registered as a natural monument since 1935.

There is a campsite and a bathing area at one of the two lakes; the other main lake is used for fishing. An extensive network of hiking and cycling paths leads through the forests, along the lake and along the Elbe-Lübeck Canal.

Getting Around

The 38-kilometre Nature Park Tour follows the eastern shore of the Elbe-Lübeck Canal from Lankau to Anker. The 39-kilometre Ice Age Tour includes a challenging terminal moraine section around Lankau and Albsfelde. On this Ice Age Tour, Lake Lankau is mentioned as a place for swimming and cooling off.

The Old Salt Road cycle route runs along the Elbe-Lübeck Canal. The canal section through Lankau leads to Donnerschleuse in Neu-Lankau.

Geographical Location

The Duchy of Lauenburg has 1,000 kilometres of signposted cycle paths, four long-distance cycle routes and 13 themed circular routes. E-bikes can be rented in Mölln, Ratzeburg and other locations in the region.

Campingplatz Schmidt at Lake Lankau accommodates short-term guests with their own caravans, motorhomes or tents. The campsite is located directly on Lake Lankau at the edge of the forest; the Elbe-Lübeck Canal is nearby for walks and cycling tours.

A café with a farm shop sells homemade chutneys, sauces and juices made from regional ingredients. Brandtschatz Café am See is a farm café in Anker, a district of Lankau, on Lake Anker. Brandtschatz's Diele am See can be rented for events for up to 70 people.
