Culture
The Church of Reconciliation in Dassendorf was built in 1960 according to plans by architects Barbara and Wolfgang Vogt. Four stained-glass windows depict Christmas or Epiphany, Good Friday, Easter and Ascension Day. The altar cross is designed using enamelwork and symbolises the four Evangelists. Guided tours of the church are available by arrangement through the parish office.
At the edge of the forest opposite the entrance to the Golf-Club am Sachsenwald, there are two giant beds in Dassendorf. Dassendorf has a public library and adult education programmes. The cultural association, the seniors’ advisory council and local clubs organise events. Events organised by the cultural association take place in the multi-purpose hall; an open-air brunch is held there every year after the summer holidays.
Sports and Golf
TuS Dassendorf offers sporting activities in a former tennis hall, a school sports hall and on three sports fields, including an artificial-turf pitch.
The Golf-Club am Sachsenwald has an 18-hole championship course and a 6-hole short course that can be played without membership. Guests and beginners are welcome; there are also taster sessions and golf courses leading to course qualification.
The Ristorante am Riesenbett, which serves Italian cuisine, is affiliated with the Golf-Club am Sachsenwald.
Regional Routes
Dassendorf is connected by bus and via the HVV network. Aumühle S-Bahn station is approximately 5 km away; from there, connections run towards Hamburg, Geesthacht and Mölln.
In the surrounding region, eight themed cycling tours lead through the landscape, with information points using mobile phones as signposts. E-bikes can be rented in Mölln, Ratzeburg and at other locations in the region.
In the wider surrounding region, the Alte Salzstraße long-distance cycle route runs from Lauenburg to Lübeck along the Elbe-Lübeck Canal. It follows the history of a medieval salt-trading route.
