With patience and a little luck, rare dragonflies and white-tailed eagles can be observed in the Hellbach Valley. There are opportunities to see kingfishers at three bridges in the Hellbach Valley. Besenthal also has two wildlife enclosures for red deer and wild boar, where wild animals can sometimes be seen during the day.

Agriculture and Products

Agriculture remains central to Besenthal: grain, potatoes and maize are grown, while cattle, calves and pigs are kept. Hof Schmidt - Lila Hofladen in Sarnekow has been operating for four generations and cooperates with nearby producers. The farm shop sells potatoes, eggs, meat and sausage specialities. It is described as a refreshment stop for a cycling tour along the Hellbach.
