Süderende is described as a Frisian village with thatched, narrow-gabled houses associated with historic captains’ families. History

The Altes Pastorat consists of an older section dating from around 1680; a newer section was added in 1762. Richardus Petri was one of Föhr’s early teachers from approximately 1630 to 1678.
