Sarzbüttel: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Sarzbüttel is located on a geest ridge between woodland and extensive lowland moors. The local cheese history includes the Sarzbüttel dairy cooperative, which was founded in 1888 and is described as the only dairy still in existence in Dithmarschen. The Sarzbüttel artisan cheese dairy processes fresh raw milk from around 20 regional farmers into naturally matured cheeses. In the natural maturation cellar, the cheeses are tended, turned, grated, and rotated by hand; at the small cheese counter, cheese is sold directly to end consumers.

Nature

The “Riesewohld” landscape conservation area includes Sarzbüttel and covers approximately 6,030 hectares. It is described as an area for year-round, nature-compatible recreation by walkers and cyclists, with a well-developed network of cycling routes. The “Geestlandschaft bei Bargenstedt” landscape conservation area covers approximately 1,890 hectares. Several small lakes are located around Sarzbüttel. The Dellbrüdan stream flows immediately south of Sarzbüttel, near the border with Bargenstedt.

Culture and History

The Sarzbüttel Geest Church is a modern limestone church. It was built in the 1960s by architect Hanns Hoffmann. The Schanze near Dellbrück is a designated landscape-protected site in Sarzbüttel covering an area of 2.56 hectares. A branch of the historic Lübsche Trade ran northwards towards Sarzbüttel and Odderade. The network of routes of the Lübsche Trade is identified in Sarzbüttel as HISTOUR point M28, “Sarzbütteler Landwehr”.

Cycling

The Mitteldithmarschen administrative district offers three prepared cycling tours that can be used with GPS on a mobile phone. The Landgasthof Lindenhof is located at Österstraße 7a in Sarzbüttel.
