Lengenfeld: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Lengenfeld developed from an agricultural settlement into a textile town. Today, the town brings together urban history, museums, milling traditions, viewpoints and a range of leisure activities.

Culture

Lengenfeld’s central townscape includes the town hall from 1880 and the newly redesigned market square. St. Aegidius Church and its church square form a remarkable urban ensemble; the church was completed in 1864 according to plans by Christian Friedrich Arnold. The town museum is housed in one of Lengenfeld’s oldest surviving buildings, which is itself of local significance.

The Lengenfeld Fire Brigade Museum preserves historic firefighting technology, equipment, documents, records, brochures and photographs for future generations. The collection comprises around 600 exhibits. A guided tour of the Fire Brigade Museum takes approximately 45 minutes.

The local history of milling includes Klopfermühle, which has been owned by the Klopfer family since 1863. Rye and wheat flour are produced there for bakeries. Klopfermühle also includes an organic food shop and a museum founded in 1990.

Nature and Activities

The Pilz viewpoint offers expansive views from eastern Thuringia and the Vogtland Kuhberg near Netzschkau across several peaks and elevated points of the Ore Mountains. Lengenfeld promotes hiking trails, cycling routes, themed trails and cross-country skiing tracks. There are also hiking trails around Lengenfeld.

Leisure

Lengenfeld’s municipal outdoor pool has a beach volleyball court and a small children’s playground. It is located next to a hiking trail and can be reached on foot, by bus or by train. The facilities also include free parking, bicycle stands and a charging station for e-bikes.

Plohn Leisure Park features roller coasters, white-water rides, a prehistoric rafting ride, an adventure journey, a dwarf railway, a rodeo and a fairytale forest.

Getting Around

The Lengenfeld community bus connects Plohn/Abhorn, Pechtelsgrün, Wolfspfütz and Weißensand with the town centre.
