Auerbach/Vogtland: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Culture and history

The historic center of Auerbach is associated with its identity as the “Three-Tower Town”: the castle tower, the tower of St. Lawrence Church, and the tower of the Church of the Holy Cross form the landmark ensemble referred to by this name.

The Auerbach Museum presents more than 1,000 objects relating to the history of the castle, town, guilds, postal services, associations, mining, and industry. Its medieval barrel-vaulted cellar houses a mineral collection and mining models; the museum also includes a reconstructed GDR apartment from the 1980s.

Auerbach’s visitor program includes an annual historic Old Market Festival with stalls and performances in a medieval style, as well as a pottery market featuring demonstrations by pottery and ceramics workshops.

The surrounding area of Auerbach/Vogtland includes Steinberg, Joly-Stein, Mausberg, and Unterer Keilberg. Bärenwalde Church is also located in the surrounding area. In the wider regional area around Auerbach/Vogtland are Lower Greiz Castle, Upper Greiz Castle, and Voigtsberg Castle.
