Dorfhain: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The first documented record of mining in Dorfhain dates from 1511. The historic mining period ended with the closure of the Neujahrswechsel mine in 1892 and the Silbersegen mine in 1896.

Culture and History

The Aurora Erbstolln was constructed in gneiss and porphyry, with the porphyry being microgranite. Protective coats, helmets and lamps are used during guided underground tours. Children aged six and over may take part in the tour. The Aurora Erbstolln is described as the only accessible silver mine on the Silver Road between Freiberg and Dresden. Original mining tools dating from 1580 to the present day are exhibited in the adit.

The Aurora Erbstolln can be reached by public transport via bus 343. The route runs via Tharandt, Edle Krone, Dorfhain and Klingenberg. The listed stop is Dorfhain Abzweig Hosenmühle.

A Baroque Protestant village church stands at the upper edge of the village. Its construction history includes an early church dating from around 1300, a late Gothic alteration, reconstruction after the fire of 1632 and an entrance hall added in 1724.

A GEOPARK tour covers 100 years of the history of a company that was later relocated to Dorfhain.

Hiking

A circular hiking route from Dorfhain through the valley of the Wilde Weißeritz includes former mills in the Weißeritz Valley. The Ritter Theler Tour passes the Aurora Erbstolln and then continues to Dorfhain. It uses the white-green-white and white-red-white trail markings and is also marked as a mining educational trail and as the ENSO Trail.

Leisure

Dorfhain's municipal adventure pool offers an activity pool with a 65-metre slide and a whitewater channel, a sports pool, a children's pool, play areas and a sunbathing lawn.
