Culture and History

The municipality of Mockrehna is home to the Paltrock windmill in Audenhain. Dating from 1751, it is still fully operational and includes a mill room and changing exhibitions. It can be visited on German Mill Day or by prior arrangement.

The Audenhain Local History Museum is housed in a former school and displays rural household items as well as documents from the former school and former municipality. The church tower also still contains the stone and the axe associated with Mockrehna’s church legend.

The attic of the manor house in Wildenhain, located in the municipality of Mockrehna, contains a small museum with household, craft, agricultural and school items.

Audenhain, with St. Mary’s Church, is located near Mockrehna. In the wider surrounding region of Mockrehna are Lichtenburg Palace and Hubertusburg Palace. Börln Church is also located in the wider surrounding region.

Nature and Trails

A 21-kilometre circular route starts and ends at Mockrehna railway station, connects six stops and leads through fields, meadows, forests and small villages. There are not separate cycle paths everywhere along the route.

The municipality of Mockrehna is home to a 110-hectare private wildlife enclosure. Red deer and fallow deer, wild boar, reindeer, llamas, sheep and goats live there; the farm shop sells organically produced game sausage and game meat.

The 4-kilometre Forest Nature Trail in Gräfendorf has stations covering forest conversion, pine heathland, burial mounds and the ecology of forest soil. The information is designed for learning in nature.
